NOIDA: Hundreds of homebuyers held demonstrations against different builders in Noida and Greater Noida on Saturday. Their complaints were mostly against delayed possession.
In Greater Noida, buyers of Sushant Megapolis, a residency by Ansal Group, staged a day-long protest. The buyers claimed that the project, launched in 2007, is yet to be completed.
“We booked the apartments in 2009. Till now have no idea when we will get the possession. No progress has been made on the project. We have filed a case with National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission demanding an exit from the project with a total refund and 18% interest. Or, those who want to retain the apartments be compensated with 18% as delayed penalty,” said Manoj Narayan, who led the demonstration. against the Ansals, said. Calls made to Ansals went unanswered. There were no response to messages either.
In Noida, buyers of Amrapali’s Crescent Homes, staged a demonstration and assembled at the office of Amrapali. “We want clarity on timelines. The builders need to give us timely updates. We have gathered here today to discuss all the issues the homebuyers are facing,” said Abhishek, president, Nefowa.
“We have interacted with all the buyers who assembled at our offices todayWe have communicated to them that most of our project delays have been caused either by NGT’s rulings or when the farmers raised a bid to quash the land acquisition in Patwari village area. These legal battles have set us back on calendar. We are trying our best to make up for them,” Shiv Priya, executive director, Amrapali group, said.
