JSW Group’s human resources head Yugesh Goutam and CIO Nikhil Chaturvedi quit company

MUMBAI: JSW Group’s human resources head Yugesh Goutam and CIO Nikhil Chaturvedi have quit the Sajjan Jindal-led conglomerate just before heir apparent Parth Jindal joins the business, sources said.

Goutam joined JSW in June 2014 and Chaturvedi in September. Parth Jindal was involved in hiring of both these senior managers. He is known to build his own team for businesses and functions he wishes to manage.

The Jindal scion has been engaged with Goutam for the last two years to set in place a new work culture, build a second line of talent, create leadership development programmes and training & development.

However, four sources familiar with the matter said Goutam had differences of opinion with the management. “Yugesh Goutam served JSW Group as president-HR for around two years. He has chosen to move on for entirely personal reasons. Attributing any other reason to his (or any other employee’s) exit is misleading and mischievous,” said a JSW Group spokesperson. “In a large and growing conglomerate like JSW attrition of employees is not unusual and the attrition rate is well within industry parameters.”

Parth Jindal takes keen interest in HR, technology, cements, sports and new technology venture fund of Rs 100 crore and is expected to join the company by end of this month, after he returns from his honeymoon. The steel-to power conglomerate is readying for the next phase of growth through acquisitions and bigger capacities besides starting an industrial paints business.

Parth Jindal was instrumental in recruiting JSW Cement business CEO Anil Kumar Pillai and recently changed the top management of a poorly-performing JSW Steel subsidiary in United States. He is keen to steer the group towards more new age businesses to avoid the fluctuations of its commodity-focussed and cyclical businesses.

Goutam will join pharma major Lupin as president, Global Human Resources. Goutam will be responsible Lupin and its subsidiaries worldwide as its global head of HR.
