BHUBANESWAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with chief executive officer of Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL), Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) mayor and commissioner on Saturday through video conference from Pune.
The interaction is part of the celebration of first anniversary of the launch of Smart City Mission by the Centre. Pune, which was adjudged second in the smart city list released by the urban development ministry, will host the celebration. The PM is slated to fly to Pune from where he will interact with the officials of smart city implementing agencies.
The Bhubaneswar was topper among the smart cities the Centre accorded to 20 cities in the first phase in January.
“There is no stated agenda on which the PM will discuss with us. However, we have kept the progress card and future plans ready for smooth interaction. Besides me, BSCL CEO R Vineel Krishna and BMC commissioner Krishan Kumar will be present during the interaction which will take place at the National Informatics Centre here,” said BMC mayor Anant Narayan Jena.
On Saturday, the two parks in Sailashree Vihar and Prashanti Vihar phase-II to be developed under the smart city mission will be inaugurated. Besides, a mobile application called ‘Bhubaneswar One’ (App) that will enable citizens to know everything about the city is slated to be inaugurated.
Taking its cue from Singapore, the Bhubaneswar development Authority (BDA) has planned to float the app, which will have information on locations of the hotels, health care centres and government offices besides data on the status of various online services provided to the citizens. The App is being developed jointly by the BDA and National Informatics Centre Services Inc (Nicsi), a central government-owned department.
The project will be implemented under Smart City Mission and BDA has released Rs 2.49 crore to the Nicsi to develop the software for the App.
