DLF told to pay Rs 2 lakh each with 12% interest for delay in delivery

Of the total penalty, Rs 1.50 lakh is towards harassment while Rs 50,000 is the ligation cost in each case.

NEW DELHI: A Chandigarh consumer court has asked realty major DLF Homes Panchkula Pvt Ltd to give possession of completed residential flats to eight consumers within 30 days and pay Rs 2 lakh as compensation with 12% per annum interest on the deposited amount till the possession is given to each of them, according to a report in The Tribune.

The case relates to a residential housing project, ‘The Valley’ in Sector 3, Kalka-Pinjore Urban Complex.

The complainants had booked a flat in the project on September 27, 2010, by paying Rs 4,00,000. However, the possesion was delayed and later in 2014, the complainants were informed that the saleable area was revised and they needed to pay extra Rs 5,89,000 with Rs 18,200 service tax. However, the clause was revoked after the complainants protested.

Two years later, the company offered possession of the unit, but asked the consumers to deposit Rs 17,51,924.48 within one month. The company also put forth several other payment demands, said the report.
