GURGAON: If you come across anyone promising an allotment under the Haryana government’s affordable housing project against a payment of Rs 5 to Rs 10 lakh, do not fall in the trap. Report the matter to the enforcement wing of the department of town and country planning (DTCP).
The government in 2013 launched the Affordable Group Housing Policy and reserved 300 acre of land for affordable housing in Gurgaon. In three years, 135 licences have been provided for 162 acres of land to Pivotal Infrastructure Pvt Ltd., Ramsons Kshitij, Tulsiani Affordable Housing, Arete India, Adani – Alton Buildwell, Conscient Habitat, Lotus, Mahindra Shantimaa, Orchard Avenue among others.
However, the enforcement wing of the DTCP received several complaints of an alleged scam being run by Pivotal Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, which was granted licence no. 05 of 2016 dated May 30, 2016, for developing the housing project in Gurgaon’s sector 62. Allegedly a group of people, claiming to be representatives of the company, are collecting a premium amount from aspirants and assuring them a confirmed allotment in the project.
The enforcement wing of DTCP is investigating the matter.
District Town Planner (enforcement) Rajender Sharma said, “It has come to our notice that alleged representatives of Pivotal Infrastructure are collecting an advance amount of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, depending upon the size, from the general public by promising them a confirmed allotment in the housing project.”
As per the licence and the housing policy, the allotment to beneficiaries can only be made after publishing an advertisement of the project describing the unit details. The allotment to these units would be done through draw of lot which is held under the chairmanship of senior town planner (STP), Gurgaon.
“In case any person, property dealer, agent and company demands money from the public and gives an assurance of confirmed allotment of flat in the said project, then it is in violation of the rules,” said Sharma adding that the government has fixed a price of Rs 4,000 per square feet for affordable housing scheme in Gurgaon.
In response to the notice sent by the enforcement wing, the CEO of Pivotal Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, Surendra Singh, said his company has no association with the people who are collecting money in the name of confirmed allotment.
“We have already issued a public notice informing people that the company is not associated with such people. We are yet to launch our project so advance booking is out of question. If anyone is paying for an ‘assured allotment’ then they are doing it at their own risk,” Singh said.
