KOCHI: In a cheating case, Meera Homes, a private apartment firm, has been accused of swindling Rs 4.34 crore from 18 people.
The nine-floor project of the firm, Elegance Apartments at Karimukal, which is said to have begun construction in 2008, was to be handed over to buyers by 2014. However, the buyers recently got legal attachment notice for the properties from banks.
“When we inquired at the banks, huge loans had been availed from HDFC and SBI banks by Meera Group owners showing the agreement for sale of the properties we had bought,” said K K Babu, whose son had invested in the property. A total of 48 lakh was availed by the accused from different banks.
An FIR regarding the case has been registered at Aluva police station. The accused are absconding.
