Alarmed over encroachment and illegal commercial use of land acquired by Huda, chief secretary of Haryana DS Dhesi last month had directed urban development body to submit the details of such incidents.
GURGAON: After clearing around seven acre of land from encroachers in last one week, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) is now planning to have a separate wing for anti-encroachment drive headed by a dedicated enforcement officer.
According to an estimate, around Rs 5000 crore value of Huda land is under encroachment in Gurgaon. Recently, few incidents have come to light in which private persons have sold off Huda land and even developed illegal colonies right under the nose of urban development officials. The encroachment over prime land was also highlighted in district grievance committee on which CM had directed to act against encroachments and take back possession of the valuable land.
Alarmed over encroachment and illegal commercial use of land acquired by Huda, chief secretary of Haryana DS Dhesi last month had directed urban development body to submit the details of such incidents. Dhesi also directed Huda to prepare the list of land acquired by Huda and their status.
Huda administrator Yashpal Yadav said they have started taking action against encroachers and many more drive will be taken in coming weeks. But to focus on action against encroachers, there is a need for separate wing headed by enforcement officer. “Estate officer, who is currently responsible for removal of encroachment, is overloaded with work. So there is need for separate enforcement officer. Proposal has been put before senior officials,” said Yadav.
On September 8, Huda had razed 200 houses in Sectors 49, 50 to clear around 3-acre of encroached land. Encroachers had built several houses on both sides of Sectors 49, 50 dividing road. And with illegal power connection and other facilities, one person was collecting rent from each house.
Similarly, around 4-acre land was cleared around Sectors 52-57 dividing road; here also encroachers were making commercial use of encroached land.
Over the decades, HUDA developed 57 sectors in Gurgaon for which hundreds of acres of land were acquired by paying thousands of crores in compensation, but surprisingly urban development authority has no proper records of its land. In many cases, Huda has paid compensation several years back, but till date it has not taken physical possession of the land leading to encroachments and litigations.
